Know the Breeder
Hi there, we are the Carlos-Rosales Family.
My name is Adriana and my husband and I have loved the Australian Shepherd breed for many years. I am from Los Angeles, CA – the San Fernando Valley to be exact. My husband is from San Jose, CA. We met as teenagers, became friends, tied the knot, and now have kids and Mini Australian Shepherds!
We decided to breed Mini Australian Shepherds/Mini American Shepherds because they are literally the mini version of the standard sized and we loved their compact size. We grew up in ranches along horses, livestock, and dogs what else did you expect? Even though now we only own a single family home in the suburbs, we love animals. Home did not feel like home with out a furry companion. Our love for Aussies made us seek out a new companion and one day, we were surprised by my parents with Blue. He filled our home with joy and happiness. To our oldest son, his best friend.
I had always wanted to be a breeder. I remember as a kid I used to play a virtual dog game called Furry Paws, where you had dogs and could breed them according to genetics, show them, feed them, etc.! It was pretty cool, and I loved the idea of it being real. Raising puppies, training them, and knowing these great prospects came from your program was so surreal to me and it became something I had to do. I remember mentioning it to my husband and he was on board with it right away. Now in total we have 2 Dogs, 1 here at our property and 1 other with my Parents in Los Angeles. I hope to fulfill my goal and help you find the perfect addition to your family just as mine have become part of my FAMILY.
Our Name
We couldn't really think of anything at first. We decided to try and incorporate our family in the name. The number 4 is for how many of us there is in our immediate family. My husband and son have the letter M as their first initial. L is the initial of our second son, and A is my initial. Then we got stables because we both come from families that have ranches ( both my parents and my husbands') We hope one day to have one of our own as well. For our Logo we decided 2 aussies because thats technically how we started - with Blue and Coco. The colors are a Blue Merle dog and a Black Tri. I decided these 2 would be the colors because it is Blue's and Coco's colors but also those were the colors of Mona and Collarin (Our childhood aussies).

ASDR
Our dogs are registered with ASDR, the American Stock Dog Registry. I will also be adding AKC Miniature American Shepherds to our program. There is no difference in the breed other than AKC recognizing them as "Mini American Shepherds" and ASDR as Mini Australian Shepherds.
AKC
We have recently become part of AKC. At the moment "Perry" is registered as a Mini American Shepherd through AKC. I plan to register her puppies as well through AKC. If you have questions or concerns please let me know. Click the Link for more info on the American Kennel Club.

Genetic Testing
Currently we are using Paw Print Genetics to test our Dogs.
In the future we might also include Embark in our program. I feel I had to go with Paw Print Genetics since they seem to have a more broad spectrum.
Any Health Testing is for the best of the dog. We test a full Mini Aussie pannel on our Aussies which include the following:
- Collie Eye Anomaly
- Degenerative Myelopathy
- Herditary Cataracts
- Hyperuricosria
- Intertinal Cobalamin Malabsorption ( Both Australian Shepherd and BC type)
- Multidrug Resistance 1 (MDR1)
- Multifocal Retinopathy 1
- Progressive RetinalAtrophy, Progressive Rod Cone Degeneration
Australian Shepherds and most other Herding Dogs are common carriers of the MDR1 gene so do not be alarmed to see it in any report. It is very common to now be considered a norm as long as these "carriers" are not bred together.

I highly recommend this to any pet owner. Especially Dog owners and even more so to new puppy owners. I have affiliated my breeding program with Trupanion.
