Our Minis

  • All dogs are registered with the AMERICAN STOCK DOG REGISTRY (ASDR) or the American Kennel Club (AKC). All puppies are able to be registered with ASDR and some can be AKC registered. Some will be Dual Registered.
  • All of my dogs considered for breeding are Health Tested for the Mini Aussie/Mini American Shepherd Panel. I have used Paw Print Genetics but have slowly been transitioning to UC Davis Lab Genetics.
  • OFA (Orthopedic Foundation for Animals) testing is done at 2 years old for Hips/Elbows. I will be doing Eyes as well. All my dogs' parents are scored good and above so I expect the same from my dogs - if you have questions on this feel free to ask. Remember that even though these tests are done, it will not 100 % assure the prevention of diseases such as hip dysplasia. Dogs who reach an old age may develop symptoms not linked to genetics.
  • NAD (neuroaxonal dystrophy) testing is done as well. This is fairly a new test. If you are purchasing a Mini or Toy ask for this TEST! A carrier (one copy) or clear ( no copies) dog is fine to purchase, but not an affected dog (meaning 2 copies)
  • Every one of our dogs is raised as a family dog and are involved in many of our life events. We do not kennel any of our dogs unless necessary for the best of their health/safety. All of our dogs are crate trained. I recommend this because sometimes it is just necessary.
  • Our dogs are fed high premium quality food and essential supplements/vitamins according to their individual needs.
  • All dogs are up to date on vaccinations including their rabies shot.
  • All dogs are licensed with the city/county in perspective of their permanent home.

Why I chose the Mini Australian Shepherd AKA MAS?

We chose to go with the Mini Australian Shepherd because of the first Mini I ever had who was Monita. She was not too small or too big. She was smaller than the standard aussie yet VERSATILE. She had the energy and capability to do hikes, runs, walks - you name it!  She was also calm and she'd turn off when you needed her to. She was the close to perfect small version of the standard sized Aussie. This is what I hope to breed, meeting up to these standards:

  •  – a versatile mini that has great looks, an amazing personality, a perfect size, smart, everything positive. I know perfect is not a realistic characteristic to aspire for but as close to it as it as I can get will be the goal.

  • - Overall Mini's were bred down from Standard Sized Australian Shepherds by breeding the smallest together.  I personally have taken a great interest in keeping that true and do not believe in breeding a smaller breed to make them smaller. I have heard some stories where Papillons or Chihuahuas have been used to make mini and toy aussies, not considering that they have their own set of characteristics and personalities and other factors to pass on.

  • - My love for this breed has made me learn so much that I will be implementing to this program and keep learning on how to better the breed. I am not a perfect breeder nor believe in a perfect breeder, but I do believe in having standards, ethics, and proper knowledge to do the best possible to preserve the Miniature Australian Shepherd.

  • - This breed is smart. They are so smart they can get themselves into trouble. But I am a smart gal too so we fit together perfectly.

Why you should NOT get a Mini Australian Shepherd AKA MAS?

Personally I have no reason to tell someone to not get a mini aussie because I am obsessed with this breed and all I can say is amazing things. BUT............... like any breed, they have their own characteristics which may not fit everyone's household.

  1.  I think if you do not have time to teach basic commands and basic manners to a dog, the Australian shepherd is not for you. These animals are intelligent. They require structure and if you are not willing to work with them it can backfire as the dog gets older.
  2.  Australian Shepherds are a working breed. They were bred for Herding and those characteristics will be present at times, so yes they will intend to herd just about anything including children.. If you are not going to give the dog a "job" they will find things to do on their own. You do not have to teach them to herd and find ranch lands to seek herding animals, but you do need to work these dogs.
  3.  I personally try to do training at least 3x a week with my dogs. Does it always happen? NO - life gets in the way, but we try hard for these dogs to be the best they can. Training does not mean the same thing over and over either. Some days we will work on tricks, some days on manners, some days on simple following on a leash and not pulling. Their mind needs this work.
  4. I also like to get them going (exercise) at least an hour a day - EVERY DAY. Again, it does not always happen, but I do try to keep it a habit. Running, long walks, hiking, fetching, etc. Its good for them to be active and hey its good for the human as well.

  • SOCIALIZING is very important and must be done with any breed. I do go to Dog Parks, but I highly recommend only well socialized dogs go here because you are not only dealing with your own, but others as well and they are not leashed. My dogs have avoided chaos but sadly have also been at the wrong place at the wrong time. so now I like to go on puppy dates - much more control
  • Scent work, Agility, Dock Diving, etc are good ways to keep this dog busy and focused. If you are looking for a more relaxed dog there are aussies who are couch potatoes BUT not always.

Guardian/Co-own Home Option

One of these options is for puppies who we want to keep in our breeding program, but we also want them to have an amazing home with attention, exercise, and love. Dogs need attention and I myself can not at this point do more than 2-3 dogs at a time. I want my dogs to have 100% attention and this option makes it possible. We pay for any breeding related testing/needs. The owner pays for any regular and routine needs such as vaccines, food, deworming, etc. We will breed the dog for at least ages 2 -6. The dog will come to us for breeding and or whelping. This dog will be yours fully after its "breeding career". You do get an incentive this route and it just helps with keeping dogs away from shelters. This option also gives you a  dog at a discounted price. I would love to also be able to show it if the time allows us to. If you are interested in showing I can work something out with you as well.  Again, let me know directly if you want to go this route.
